1. Purpose of the Policy

Artificial intelligence and generative AI technologies are increasingly being used for activities such as language improvement, data analysis, coding assistance, translation, summarization and other forms of research support.

Advanced Scientific Research (ASR) supports responsible and transparent use of such technologies while ensuring that human authors, editors and reviewers remain accountable for scholarly decisions and published content.

Fundamental Principle AI systems may assist scholarly work, but responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, ethical compliance and final content of a manuscript remains with the human authors and relevant publishing participants.

2. Scope

This policy applies to the use of artificial intelligence and generative AI technologies in connection with manuscripts submitted to or published by Advanced Scientific Research.

  • Authors and contributors
  • Peer reviewers
  • Editors and editorial-board members
  • Editorial and production personnel
  • AI-assisted text, image, code or analytical tools

3. Core Principles for AI Use

Advanced Scientific Research expects AI-assisted scholarly work to follow the following principles:

👤

Human Accountability

Human authors remain responsible for the complete manuscript and its scholarly claims.

🔍

Transparency

Material use of AI-assisted technologies should be appropriately disclosed.

🎯

Accuracy

AI-generated information must be critically checked and verified by humans.

4. AI Use by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies for appropriate supporting activities, provided that such use does not compromise the originality, integrity, confidentiality or accuracy of the research.

✓
Generally Permitted
  • Language and grammar improvement
  • Translation assistance
  • Improving readability and clarity
  • Assistance with coding or programming, subject to human verification
  • Brainstorming or organizing ideas
  • Assistance with formatting or document preparation
!
Not Acceptable
  • Presenting fabricated AI-generated data as genuine research
  • Inventing references or citations
  • Misrepresenting AI-generated material as independently verified research
  • Using AI to conceal plagiarism
  • Uploading confidential material in a way that compromises research confidentiality

5. Disclosure of AI Use

Authors should disclose the use of generative AI when the technology has materially contributed to the preparation, generation or transformation of manuscript content.

Routine use of basic spelling or grammar tools does not necessarily require a detailed disclosure unless the journal's submission system specifically requests it.

Suggested Author Disclosure

Authors may use a statement such as:

"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] for [describe purpose]. The authors reviewed and edited the generated content and take full responsibility for the final content of the manuscript."

6. AI Cannot Be an Author

Artificial intelligence systems, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to Advanced Scientific Research.

Authorship requires human responsibility for the work, including responsibility for research integrity, scholarly interpretation and the final manuscript.

Important AI tools must not be presented as having authorship, accountability or independent responsibility for a published research article.

7. Accuracy and Verification

AI systems can produce inaccurate, incomplete, biased or fabricated information. Authors must therefore independently verify AI-assisted content before submitting a manuscript.

  • Verify factual statements.
  • Verify mathematical and statistical claims.
  • Verify references and DOI information.
  • Verify quotations and attributed statements.
  • Verify data, tables, figures and analytical results.
  • Ensure that AI-assisted code produces valid results.

8. Originality and Plagiarism

AI-assisted writing does not remove the author's responsibility to comply with the journal's plagiarism, copyright and originality requirements.

Authors must ensure that AI-assisted content does not reproduce copyrighted or previously published material without appropriate permission or attribution.

Attempts to use AI systems to disguise copied material, fabricate references or misrepresent originality may be treated as publication-ethics concerns.

9. AI Use by Peer Reviewers

Peer reviewers may encounter confidential manuscripts that have not yet been published.

Reviewers should therefore exercise particular caution when using AI systems in connection with peer review.

  • Reviewers should not upload confidential manuscript content to external AI systems where doing so would compromise confidentiality.
  • Reviewers remain responsible for the accuracy and fairness of their review reports.
  • Reviewers should disclose relevant AI assistance where required by the journal.
  • AI systems should not replace the reviewer's independent scholarly judgment.
Confidentiality Reviewers should treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and should not expose unpublished material, author information, research data or reviewer communications through inappropriate AI tools.

10. AI Use by Editors

Editors may use appropriate technological tools to support administrative or editorial tasks, provided that such use does not compromise confidentiality, fairness or editorial independence.

Editorial decisions must remain the responsibility of qualified human editors and should not be delegated solely to an AI system.

  • AI tools should not independently determine acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.
  • Confidential manuscript information should be protected.
  • Editors should verify significant AI-assisted outputs.
  • Potential conflicts of interest must continue to be managed by human editorial judgment.

11. Confidentiality and Data Protection

Authors, reviewers and editors must consider the confidentiality implications of using external AI systems.

Unpublished manuscripts, personal information, confidential reviewer reports, proprietary research data and other sensitive information should not be submitted to an AI service when doing so would violate confidentiality obligations.

12. AI-Generated Images, Figures and Visual Material

Authors should clearly identify significant use of generative AI to create or substantially modify images, figures or other visual material where such disclosure is relevant to understanding the research.

AI-generated images must not be used to fabricate or manipulate experimental evidence, scientific observations, clinical results or other research findings.

Authors remain responsible for copyright, permissions, accuracy and research-integrity issues associated with submitted visual material.

13. AI-Related Publication Misconduct

The use of AI does not by itself constitute publication misconduct. However, AI-assisted activity may become an ethical concern when it is used to mislead readers or compromise the integrity of scholarly communication.

  • Fabrication of research data or results.
  • Fabrication of references or citations.
  • Deliberate concealment of substantial AI-generated content where disclosure is required.
  • Misrepresentation of authorship.
  • AI-assisted plagiarism.
  • Generation or manipulation of research images in a misleading manner.
  • Use of AI in a manner that compromises confidential peer-review material.

14. AI-Generated Content Detection

Advanced Scientific Research may use appropriate editorial tools and human assessment when concerns arise regarding originality, authorship, research integrity or inappropriate use of AI technologies.

Human Editorial Assessment AI-detection systems can produce false positives and false negatives. Therefore, an automated AI-detection result should not by itself be treated as conclusive evidence of misconduct.

Where a legitimate concern arises, the journal may request clarification, supporting information or an explanation from the authors and may conduct an appropriate editorial assessment.

15. Policy Review and Updates

This policy may be reviewed and updated as AI technologies, scholarly publishing practices, legal requirements and research-integrity standards develop.

Authors, reviewers and editors are expected to follow the version of the policy applicable at the time of their submission, review or editorial activity.

Current Policy Authors and reviewers should consult this page before submitting or reviewing manuscripts to ensure compliance with the journal's current AI and generative AI requirements.

Responsible AI Workflow

Advanced Scientific Research recommends the following approach when AI-assisted technologies are used during manuscript preparation:

1
Use AI Responsibly
2
Verify Output
3
Check Originality
4
Disclose Material Use
5
Human Responsibility

Responsible Research. Transparent Publishing.

AI technologies may support scholarly work, but human researchers, reviewers and editors remain responsible for the integrity of the academic record.
